“hey de Rolo, remember what happened yesterday?” – Vax, offscreen, cold as fucking ice
Tag: percy de rolo
Percy: your secret is safe with my indifference
oh my god grog asking about brothels and percy thinking he’s coming onto him
Percy, of the fire ashari: I know you don’t want to go
Keyleth: I really don’t
Percy: But you have to go
oh my god percy giving vex the gem for trinket is absolutely adorable
keyleth: how was that? did that sound ok?
grog: that was the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard
percy: you did good, you did good
scanlan: i thought she did very well
Percy: Vex, darling, come here (and he shows her the arrow)
Vex: Oooh, what’s this?
Percy: This is an evening of unbridled guilt
oh man of course Percy is working on a new arrow for Vex. of course he is
just as note so i remember this later:
Vex’s death in that tomb is so much more agonising, because of how much Laura was playing Vex being protective of Vax throughout that episode and before, trying to help him with Kash and Keyleth, and just being his sister. Vax braiding her hair before they went down into that lake, the two of them joking together as Vex explored her new skills at dealing with traps and locks. the fact Vax was at the bottom of that pit and had no idea what happened at first
Percy’s mistake, and apology to Vax, and Vax punching him – is so much more painful because just 24 hours before they’d finally come closer and checked in with each other after Whitestone, and they’d decided to be family together. and Vax had chosen to trust him, and vice versa. And then, on both sides, that trust is cracked by this horrible, horrible mistake
god that whole scene was excruciating. percy trying so hard to do right and own up to his mistakes. percy apologising to vax, precisely because they’d been getting so close. and then the realisation that vax hadn’t even registered what had happened, that he didn’t even know, and his growing anger as he realises what percy did. and then just, every word where you can hear him fighting between fury and grief whilst percy just panics and gets eaten up by guilt and shame and just UGH.
and then Vax punches him, and Percy doesn’t even more, and Matt hammers it in with ‘it doesn’t hurt that much, considering how fierce the punch was. what hurts more is knowing that there are further consequences to your actions, even more than you’d expected’
and now percy is buried in his work again and god knows when he’ll surface or how he’ll be when he does. this whole thing just hurts
