what if caleb had some younger siblings and one or both of their parents werent around so while technically he wasnt their dad (technically) he filled a parental role to them.

and maybe if he was a soldier, one of those younger siblings also joined up, and something happened to them. or a younger member of his unit that he saw as a younger sibling similar to his relationship w nott.

which might jive w liams reaction to the surprise of how fast he bonded w nott and started looking out for her, and especially if caleb himself shares that surprise
