4: Romantic/Sexual Identity headcanon for this character?
Ahhh haha I love this question. I’ve thought at length about the entire of 1-A’s romantic/sexual orientations. For me, Deku is the pan-est pansexual to ever pan. Like, gender? Come again? He loves people so, so much. Also, y’know, I’m bi/pan and like, I’m self indulgent.
The only alternate that works for me is Deku as panromantic and asexual, or possibly demisexual, but I normally write him as panromantic and pansexual.
Shouto! I see Shouto as pretty dang gay, tbh. Not sure why, think it’s partly because I personally didn’t feel a lot of chemistry with Momo. (No shade on people who do, ship and let ship!) I also gravitate towards seeing Shouto as demiromantic and demisexual. I feel romantic/sexual attraction isn’t often a thing for him, and if it does happen it’s with people who identify as male. Yeah. Thank you for the ask!
7: Aside from Midoriya, which character in the series do you think has had the most character development?
Ok so are we talking anime or manga? I think in the anime, you’re looking at Iida or Shouto. But in the manga it’s definitely Bakugou or Shigaraki. And I think the anime is leaning towards Bakugou too, I mean he’s for sure one of the series’ main characters.
Orange: Fluff or Angst?
Ahahahahahahaha (insert manic cackling here) yeah, like both? Hurt/comfort is my drug. I love that good good angst, but there’s gotta be a resolution or else I’m wrecked. With that in mind – essentially needing happy endings, I’m gonna say start angsty end fluffy.
Pop: Do you think the “Dabi and Shouto are brothers” theory is true?
Damn you know what I really don’t know. This has been bugging me for a while. It seems pretty wild as a theory, but I also think it makes a lot of sense. The main thing that sells me on the idea? The panel where Dabi recognises Shouto in the manga. Like, I just really don’t think Horikoshi as a storyteller would do a centre page, huge big specific dialogue between them if there wasn’t something going on, that would be weird. Still, maybe it’s just that Dabi knows what a trash fire Enji is? Honestly, I don’t know – agnostic on this issue!
Oh man this is so tricky. Proooooobably Dekusquad? Because I really adore Midoriya and Uraraka especially. And Shouto, ofc. But as a squad, I actually prefer the dynamic/sense of humour in the Bakusquad. Mina, Sero and Kaminari are brilliant and underrated, and I do also absolutely love Kirishima. Ah I can’t pick a side!
13: Dadmight or Dadzawa?
Dadzawa. Don’t get me wrong – All Might is an angel and if he were real I would die for him. But he’s also a smiiiiiidgen clueless, and I’m not sure how much of a good idea it is to leave him responsible for large groups of children. Aizawa is Bitter and Tired ™ but he so obviously deeply cares about the kids, and has the emotional intelligence and ability to be a pretty great guardian for them – I refer you to his comments on Bakugou in the press conference. So yeah, Dadzawa I think.
Cherry: Should Endeavor die like right now
YOOOOOOOOOO. Hahahaha so like, yes? But also I personally really want Shouto to get the closure that a Long Long Long prison sentence for Enji would offer. Just – knowing that society is on his side, knowing he’s safe, getting justice – for himself and his family. I think that’s more important than a quick death for Enji, which I worry would eat at Shouto with unanswered questions about what he could possibly have done differently. A quick death would be an easy escape for Enji. Frankly, he doesn’t deserve it.
Shouto. Todoroki Shouto. No question. Man like I love all the characters but I’ve never loved or related to a character as much as I do to Shouto. Without getting into the details, I was abused by my parents, and I’ve literally never seen an abused character in media treated with the nuance and respect that Shouto gets. His experiences and thoughts and feelings feel authentic to me – they’re thoughts I’ve had. I think he’s so well written and he means the world to me.
Pineapple: What do you like the most about BNHA, as a whole?
Its optimism. Honestly, despite recent developments in the manga, I think that’s still true. BNHA is a show that revolves around the good in people – the capacity of people to do good, and I love that. It gives me hope. I also very much enjoy the fact that almost nothing is black and white in the show – the heroes can be villainous (see Enji), the villains can be heroic, albeit in a twisted way (Stain, Overhaul, Twice). I like the fact that Horikoshi was like fuck it, if I’m gonna tell this story, lets explore every possible angle. It’s really interesting.
10: Do you have any OC’s? Describe them! If you don’t, create one on the spot.
Oh I know – I wrote a TodoDeku story called A Rose By Any Other Name and had an OC Villain called Timeskip. Her quirk was that she can essentially stick people in a time out zone. Trick is that whilst it’s always two hours inside the zone, outside it could be anything from 5 mins to 5 hours. It’s a difficult quirk and she ended up disillusioned with hero society – which is a shame since she could use it as an emergency medical bay on a battlefield. Instead she carries actual weapons, and mostly traps people so they bleed out before help can reach them. Added twist is that inside the zone, she can tap into people’s psychology and make them see things they’ve tried to forget – again, on the good side, she could provide reassurance. Instead she essentially psychologically attacks people whilst they’re trapped.
Honestly, it’s not perfect, but she was only in the story for a couple seconds, so that’s my defence ^^;
Red: What do you like the most about your favorite ship?
Oh boy ok, ahhhh. Haha where do I start. So Tododeku is my favourite ship. I love it because I feel like Shouto and Izuku counter each other very well. Izuku is idealistic, Shouto is jaded. Izuku loves heroes without question, Shouto loves heroes despite his questions. Izuku fights on a grand scale for personal, emotional victories. Shouto brings his personal, emotional challenges onto a grand scale. I feel like they’ve very much got a sun/moon thing going on. I love the fact that Izuku loves and admires and respects Shouto as himself – not despite or because of his abuse. Izuku doesn’t see Shouto as a victim, but he does care and sympathise. As for Shouto to Izuku – I think growing up in a world surrounded by the crushing weight of social pressure, Shouto cares about Izuku as a person, not as the hero, Deku. I think he loves and admires the hero Deku, but Izuku is what he’s there for. I think Shouto can help to alleviate the pressure on Izuku not least because he knows how it feels.
Also, I’m always a sucker for the blabbermouth and that One Introvert who’ll listen to them. I think Izuku makes Shouto comfortable and I think the reverse is true – Shouto actually listens to what Izuku has to say and thinks carefully about it, respecting his thoughts and emotions. Just. Yeah, damn, everything.
Green: Any preferred rarepairs?
What counts as a rarepair?? I’m not sure which are rare so I’m just gonna list a couple a like that I think could be: EraserMic, ShinDeku, InaTodo, Miritama (is this still rare??), Kaminari x Mina x Sero (though I hc Sero as aro), MinaMomo
3: How do you think Midoriya’s conflict with Bakugou will end?
Good question! Ultimately, I think they’ll reconcile. I think this’ll be difficult for both of them but especially Bakugou, since i imagine a big part of it is going to be him having to learn how to be humble and accept his own shortcomings. I think once they get there though, they’ll push each other to become greater and greater. I doubt Bakugou’s personality is going to change significantly, and I don’t think it should! But I think we’ll see a move from outright hostility to begrudging/surly friendship and respect. I think we’re already going in that direction, honestly, and it’s a good thing.
