The colour of the sky, always. Less often the smell of the air. I’ve had the enormous privilege to travel pretty widely, and I’ve had some flying lessons. Those things remind me of places and moments and memories. Smells are closer to places, the colours are closer to memories

Northern Lights Tell us about some real life magic.
It’s so hard not to say the Northern Lights, because they are pretty wonderful. I’ll tell you instead: once upon a time, I lived between the UK and Hong Kong. I was very, very close to my grandad – my mother’s father. He died of a brain tumour, and I’d gone back to Hong Kong for a while. I came back to England, and I was on an early morning bus from Heathrow airport, heading back to uni. I was listening to music, half-asleep. Through the whole time my granddad had been sick, we’d kept coming back to this song that means a lot to my mum. ‘Wish You Were Here’ by Pink Floyd. One night, when my parents and I were in Hong Kong, a couple months before my grandad died, we were on the phone to him in England during a monsoon. Normally you shut the blinds to protect the windows, but we’d had a bit to drink and I don’t know, it felt like there was lightning in the air. That song came on, and my mum put my grandad on speaker, and we opened the windows to this howling storm and just, kind of shared that.
So here I am, several months later, jetlagged and alone on a bus on the motorway at about 5am, listening to music. My grandad had passed away. And that song comes on, the first couple notes. And as it does, I swear, clear as day, in a little wood off the side of the road, I saw a white hart. Absolutely white, from head to toe. It was standing in the woods and staring at the road. I have no idea how familiar you are with folklore: but normally white harts and stags, especially in British folklore, are really magical creatures. They’re the kind of thing the knights of the round table go looking for, and I don’t know how common albinism, or even deer are around east anglia. I could have been dreaming. But the coincidence of that song, and that hart, in that moment? It felt like magic to me.

I probably talk more than anyone you’ve ever met. I’ve listened to more podcast dramas than most people (73 at last count, though only up to date on 59)

100th date: would you prefer to stay in or go out this valentine’s?
I adore going out, but staying in always sounds good. I love just chilling and having a glass of wine or a beer and having a nice meal and watching a movie or tv and everything else. Something cosy where I get my s/o(s) all to myself? Perfect
blush: what could someone do this valentine’s to make you feel special?
Hm hm well it’s midnight here buuut I guess just, say something nice? Say they cared about me? Doesn’t have to be romantic, it’s nice to just be loved, I think. In general I like most things: hugs, kisses, presents (but preferably not big ones), hanging out and watching movies. Just stuff, y’know?
lace: who looks best in your favourite colour?
LORD. This is not really the way I think about people, so I have literally done some googling. OH IT’S ELISE BAUMAN. Hufflepuff nerd of my heart who could probably benchpress me (the colour is blue btw i just really like this gif)
st. valentine: what are your hopes for love this year?
ooooooof. hmmmm. I’m open to most things, and I try not to get as hung up on like a certain ideal relationship any more. it’s not really my thing, I guess? i also think that kinda leads to a whole lotta heartache, though it can be hard to avoid sometimes.
i guess at first I thought I just wanted a bunch of casual one night stands and stuff
I think mostly though I do wanna meet someone, or some people, to chill out with – platonically and romantically as well as sexually. Mostly I want cuddles. I really love physical touch and I’m feeling its absence right now. So someone, or some people, to have late night conversations with and cuddle, I guess. Someone or some people to be soft with.
cupid: have you ever been set up? have you ever set anyone else up? how did it go?
I kinda set up two of my best friends actually. They both separately told me they had a crush on each other, and I tried not to interfere too much, mostly just encouraging them and occasionally orchestrating ‘group hangs’ where the rest of us would be mysteriously busy….They’ve been together 5 yrs and they’re pretty happy, it’s awesome
As for me, I don’t think so! I mean, maybe? But I don’t think so. I am more likely to accidentally date people than be set up
candy: favourite thing to eat on a date?
Literally anything sweet. Strawberries, ice cream, chocolate, candy floss. Gimme all the sugar. I have a sweet tooth a mile long and I’m not afraid to use it
YES. Yes. A thousand times yes. One of the best possible dates. Top tier.
giggle: what’s more important in an s.o.: intelligence or humour?
Hmmm. I guess both but idk valuing ‘intelligence’ feels like it could be kinda douchey. Clever people are hot, for sure, but I honestly think most people are clever, albeit in different ways.
I think humour. I love funny people, and you gotta laugh.
I’ve never written a poem for a crush, but I have written several poems about my crushes on different people. They are all horribly embarrassing, I was a teenager
