(I couldn’t sleep last night so I started composing this list in my head and I’m still enjoying having this stuff on my blog for posterity if nothing else so here we are!)

– the looks on all their faces when they watch Matt describing things/telling them stories; it reminds me of that bit in The West Wing where Will asks Sam who his favourite writer is and he just really casually says ‘Toby’.

– how casually affectionate they all are with each other, the just endless moments of them lolling on each others shoulders, or all but climbing into each others’ laps during tense or exciting bits, or how casually Matt will be leaning on the shoulder/back of whoever’s ear he’s whispering in

– the cats watching tennis/meerkat attitudes of whoever’s not in the scene/room whenever there’s a scene happening not involving all of them

– related, the variously successful attempts not to metagame when that happens (”I’m not there!…But if I was!” “YOU’RE NOT THERE!!”)

– a subset of the above, the occasionally literal popcorn.gif when it’s particularly entertaining

– how they all help each other with their FREQUENTLY RIDICULOUSLY AWFUL math skills

– Matt just casually keeping everyone’s stats in his head, like the number of times he’s like ‘what’s your AC?’ ‘ummmm’ ‘oh right it’s 20 nvm’

– the way they all watch and react to each others’ dice rolls, including Matt’s (”…that’s a lotta dice, Matt…”)

– Matt giving the party space to debate and decide what they’re gonna do next, with THE BEST POKER FACE OF ALL TIME

– how flustered Matt gets whenever one of them sincerely compliments him, he doesn’t get thrown off by any reaction they have to the PLOT, or their various attempts to derail him, but actual compliments? Nope.

– related, Matt sometimes just ignoring shenanigans. (”You could totally hide behind another person!” *Marisha and Taliesin demonstrate* Matt: *just carries on the session*)

– anytime someone just disappears behind the table, usually because they’ve collapsed with laughter

– how endlessly patient they all are with Ashley, particularly Matt. Like it makes sense given circumstances but the amount of care they take to make sure she knows what she’s doing and remind her how the game works is still really lovely to watch.

– how THRILLED they are whenever she can make it, both in and out of character

– the ridiculous lengths they’ll go to not to miss a show, like Ashley being all ‘it’s 2am and I have a pickup at 5am but that was great, let’s play more!’ or ‘yeah, we were listening to the stream as we drove over FROM THE AIRPORT’ or ‘yeah we are heading to the airport right after the steam ends’

– any time anyone gives Laura shit about her dice superstitions

– this is not so much a moment but worth noting: any time any of them sings or dances. it’s so much.

I’m sure I had more but this is quite long as is and I do not know how read more works cuz I am a nit. I may reblog it and add to it though tbh and if other people feel like doing the same go for it!
